Stone Age ( প্রস্তর যুগ )

প্রাচীন ভারতীয় ইতিহাসের প্রাগৈতিহাসিক যুগ বা প্রস্তর যুগকে তিনভাগে ভাগ করা হয়।।
তিনটি ভাগ হল ----  

(i) Paleolithic Age (প্রাচীন প্রস্তর যুগ) 
সময়ঃ ৫০০০০০ - ১০০০০ খ্রীস্টপূর্বাব্দ  
(Ii) Mesolithic Age (মধ্য প্রস্তর যুগ) 
সময়ঃ ১০০০০ - ৬০০০ খ্রিষ্টপূর্বাব্দ 
মতান্তরেঃঃ  ৯০০০ - ৪০০০ খ্রিষ্টপূর্বাব্দ
(iii) Neolithic Age (নব্য প্রস্তর যুগ)    
সময়ঃ ৬০০০ - ২৫০০ খ্রিষ্টপূর্বাব্দ
মতান্তরেঃ ৬০০০ /৪০০০ -- ১৮০০ খ্রিষ্টপূর্বাব্দ

Paleolithic Age (প্রাচীন প্রস্তর যুগ) : 

সময়ের নিরিখে মানুষের বিবর্তন, প্রস্তর খন্ডের ধরন, জলবায়ুর পরিবর্তন ও অন্যান্য আনুষাঙ্গিক কারণের ভিত্তিতে Plestocene Age/  Paleolithic Age (প্রাচীন প্রস্তর)  যুগকে তিনভাগে ভাগ করা হয়। যথা ---

(i) Lower Paleolithic Age 
Time : 500000 BC  - 50000 BC
(ii) Middle Paleolithic Age 
Time : 50000 BC -- 40000 BC 
(iiil Upper Paleolithic Age    
Time : 40000 BC - 10000 BC

Upper Paleolithic Age Sites / উচ্চ রাচীন প্রস্তর যুগের নিদর্শন স্থান : --

Uttar Pradesh : Belan Valley 
Maharashtra : Nevasa 
Gujrat : Sabarmati Valley.  
Madhya Pradesh : Singrauli,  Bhimbetka, Adamgrah, Hatnora. 
Karnataka : Hungsi Valley.  
Tamil Nadu : Attirampakkam,  Kortallayar Valley. 
Kashmir : Pahaigam.  

প্রাচীন প্রস্তর যুগের বৈশিষ্ট্য : 

(১) শিকার ও খাদ্য সংগ্রহ ছিল সে যুগে মানুষের জীবনধারণের  অন্যতম প্রধান বৈশি। ফল-মূল ও জীবজন্তুর মাংস ছিল তাদের প্রধান খাদ্য।   
(২) সে যুগে মানুষ আত্মরক্ষার্থে পাথরের হাতিয়ার ব্যবহার করত। ধারালো ও মসৃণ পাথরের ব্যবহার সে যুগে শুরু হয়নি। সে যুগের পাথর ছিল  প্রকৃতি। সে যুগে Quartzite প্রকৃতির পাথর মানুষ ব্যবহার করত বলে তাদের Quartzite Man  বলা হয়।   
(৩) প্রাচীন প্রস্তর যুগের মানুষ ছিল যাযাবর প্রকৃতির। 
(৪) প্রাচীন প্রস্তর যুগ প্লিস্টোসিন (Plestocene) অর্থাৎ শীতলাবস্থার যুগ ছিল। 


Mesolithic Age (মধ্য প্রস্ত যুগ) : 
মধ্য প্রস্তর যুগের বৈশিষ্ট্য -- 

(১) মধ্য প্রস্তর যুগের মানুষ ছোটো ধরনের পাথরের হাতিয়ার ও যন্ত্রপাতি (Microlithic Tools) ব্যবহার করত। তাই এই যুগকে Microlithic Age বলা হয়ে থাকে। 
(২) পাথরগুলি ছিল বেশিরভাগ ক্ষেত্রে ত্রিকোণাকার। 
(৩) শিকার ও পশুওপালন ছিল এ যুগের মানুষের অন্যতম বৈশি।  
(৪) আগুনের আবিস্কার এ যুগের অন্যতম বৈশি।     
(৫) এ যুগের মানুষ গুহার দোয়ালে ছবি আঁকত। তার অন্যতম প্রামান্য উদাহরণ হল ভিমভেটকা গুহা।  
(৬) এ যুগের মানুষ তির-ধনুক ও বর্শা তৈরি করতে শিখেছিল।
(৭) পশু শিকারের পাশাপাশি মানুষ মৎস শিকার করত। 
(৮) এই যুগে পৃথিবীতে Plestocene Period শেষ হয় ও Holocene Period অথার্থ শীতল পৃথিবী উষ্ণ হতে শুরু করে।  

Mesolithic Age Sites / মধ্য প্রস্তর যুগের নিদর্শন স্থান : -- 

Madya Pradesh : Bhimbetka (ভিমভেটকা), Adamgrah (আদমগড়), Pachmarhi (পাচমারি). 
Rajasthan :Bagor (বাগোর), Tilwara (তিলওরা) 
Gujrat :  - Langhaj (লাঙ্ঘাজ)
Andhra Pradesh : Gauri Gundam (গৌরি গুন্ডাম) 
Karnataka : Sanganakallu (সঙ্গানাকাল্লু) 
Uttar Pradesh : Mando (মান্ড), Damdama (দমদমা), Chopani (চোপানি).  
Maharashtra : Patne (পাটনি), Hatkhamba (হাতখাম্বা).  


Neolithic Age (নব্য প্রস্তর যুগ) :    
নব্য প্রস্তর যুগের বৈশিষ্ট্য -- 

(১) নব্য প্রস্তর যুগের অন্যতম প্রধান বৈশিষ্ট্য হল কৃষিকাজের  প্রচলন।  
(২) Food  Production  অর্থাৎ এ যুগে মানুুষ খাদ্য উৎপাদন করতে শুরু।  
(৩) চাকার আবিস্কার এ যুগের আর এক অন্যতম প্রধান বৈশিষ্ট্য।    
() Pottery Manufacture অর্থাৎ মৃৎ পাত্র তৈরি ও তার অত্যাধিক ব্যবহার এ যুগ থেকে শুরু হয়। 
() এ যুগের মানুষ Society Reform বা  Village Community  গড়ে তোলে। 
(৬) নব্য প্রস্তর যুগে মানুষ Polished Stone Tools অর্থাৎ মসৃণ পাথরের জিনিসপত্র ব্যবহার করত।

Baluchistan : Mehergrah, Kili Gul Muhammad. 
Bihar : Chiran,  Chechar.

Karnataka : Tekkalatoka, Narsipur.  




Source of History (ইতিহাসের উপাদান)

ইতিহাসের সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয় হল Source তথা উপাদান। Source (উপাদান) ছাড়া কখনই প্রকৃত ইতিহাস রচনা করা সম্ভব নয়।  একজন প্রকৃত ইতিহাসকারের কাজই হল নিরপেক্ষ দৃষ্টিভঙ্গিতে প্রামান্য তথ্যের ভিত্তিতে ইতিহাস রচনা করা। ইতিহাসের উপাদানকে দুটি ভাগে ভাগ করা হয়। যথা -- 
(1) Primary Source 
( 2) Secondary Source 

(1) Primary  Source : প্রত্যক্ষভাবে উপস্থিত থেকে যেখানকার কোনো বস্তু বা বিষয় থেকে তথ্য সংগ্রহ করা হয়, তা হল Primary Source ।  
উদাহরন : প্রত্নতাত্ত্বিক উপাদান (মন্দির, শিলালিপি,)।  

  (2) Secondary Source : সাধারনভাবে বলা যায় Primary  Source থেকে লেখা কোনো গ্রন্থ থেকে যে তথ্য সংগ্রহ করা হয়ে থাকে,  তাকে Secondary Source বলে।  
উদাহরন : Indian History by - Krishna Reddy.

ইতিহাসের যুগ বিভাজন

সময় ও যুগের নিরিখে ভারতীয় ইতিহাসকে তিনটি ভাগে ভাগ করা হয়ে থাকে। 

তিনটি ভাগ হল -- 

(1) Ancient History (প্রাচীন যুগ) 
(সময়ঃ প্রস্তর যুগ থেকে ৬০৬ বা ৬৫০ খ্রিস্টাব্দ) 

(2) Medieval History (মধ্য যুগ) 
(সময়ঃ ৬০৬ বা ৬৫০ থেকে ১৭৫৭) 

(3) Modern History (আধুনিক যুগ) 
(সময়ঃ ১৭৫৭ থেকে আজ পর্যন্ত)  

আসবাপত্র, লিপি বা অক্ষরের ব্যবহার এবং লিপি বা অক্ষরের ব্যবহার ও পাঠদ্ধার প্রভৃতির উপর ভিত্তি করে প্রাচীন যুগকে তিনটি ভাগে ভাগ করা হয়।  যথা -- 

(1) Pre-history (প্রাগৈতিহাসিক যুগ) 
(2) Proto-history (প্রায় ঐতিহাসিক)  
(3) Historic Age (ঐতিহাসিক যুগ) 

(1) Pre-history : যে যুগে মানুষ লিপি বা অঙ্গরের ব্যবহার শেখেনি । শুধুমাত্র তাদের ব্যবহৃত আসবাপত্র  
থেকে তাদের সম্পর্কে জানা যায়। 

উদাহরণ : প্রস্তর যুগ,  সভ্যতা - মেহেরগড় 

প্রাচীন ভারতের ইতিহাসে Pre-history যুগকে আবার তিনটি ভাগে ভাগ করা হয়। যথা --

(2) Proto-history : প্রায় ঐতিহাসিক যুগের সংজ্ঞা দেওয়া কঠিন। সাধারনত Pre-histoy ও History যুগের মধ্যবর্তী সময়কালকে  Proto-history যুগ হিসাবে চিহ্নিতকরা হয়। 
       যে সময়ে লিপির ব্যবহার  নিদর্শন পাওয়া যায়, কিন্তু তার পাঠদ্ধার আজও সম্ভব হয়নি।  

উদাহরণঃ সিন্ধু সভ্যতা  

(3) Historic Period : যে সময়কাল থেকে লিপির ব্যবহার হয়েছে ও তার পাঠদ্ধার সম্ভব  হয়েছে........সেই সময় পর্ব ঐতিহাসিক যুগ বলা হয়।
 
উদাহরণঃ বৈদিক সভ্যতা থেকে বর্তমান সময়।

and post independent phase. It also consists of Historical Method, Research 
Methodology and Historiography. Since, the subject and the boundaries of Indian
